Make and Mend: Holiday Repair and Craft Swap

Make and Mend through Palatine Library is a community learning series for anyone who wants to learn by doing. Each Saturday session offers a new opportunity to explore practical skills, discover useful tools and equipment, and get hands-on experience making, maintaining, or repairing everyday things. Materials at booths to complete repairs are provided for free.

This Saturday's Theme is Holidays and Craft Swap
Prepare for the holiday season by giving your favorite decorations a new life or refreshing up on your hobby and craft supplies. Practice simple repairs, explore common tools and equipment, and learn how to use them safely and confidently. If you're interested in donating or participating in the craft swap please contact us to coordinate a time to review the materials.

Our booths will include activities and information on:

Ornament/Wreath and more repair booth for simple glue, or hook/string replacement
Holiday light checking station
General fabric repairs for things like table runners, napkins, stockings, etc.
Gift Wrap Rescue station where we show how to repurpose leftover paper, bags, fabrics, and more into interesting gift wraps
General information on storing your items to ensure their use year to year

Special thanks to Palatine Cool Cities for co-running this event! Please bring in items you'd like to learn how to repair and coordinate a time with us for the craft swap. Repair and up-cycle materials provided. Sign up begins 10/24. All ages.
