DESCRIPTION:Make and Mend through Palatine Library is a community learning series for anyone who wants to learn by doing. Each Saturday session offers a new opportunity to explore practical skills\, discover useful tools and equipment\, and get hands-on experience making\, maintaining\, or repairing everyday things. Materials at booths to complete repairs are provided for free. \n\n \n\nThis Saturday's Theme is Threads and Treads.\n\nLearn the basics of caring for and repairing your clothing and shoes with hands-on activities and interactive demonstrations. Practice simple repairs\, explore common tools and equipment\, and learn how to use them safely and confidently. \n\n \n\nOur booths will include activities and information on:\n\n\n	\n	Demonstrations of machines available in the Workshop\n\n	\n		\n		How to thread\, identify stitches\, and basic operation\n		\n		\n		Identifying which needle is best for different projects\n		\n	\n	\n	\n	A booth about patching and mending whether you want them to be invisible or have a stylish visible mending flair\n	\n	\n	Hand sewing basics\n	\n	\n	Button Bar and Basics\, check through our supply of buttons and learn how to attach them\n	\n	\n	General shoe care tips like cleaning\, conditioning\, and other maintenance info\n	\n\n\nSpecial thanks to Palatine Cool Cities for co-running this event! Please bring in clothing and shoes to get hands-on guidance with them. Demos include alterations by sewing\, sergers\, and an overview exploring embroidery. Sign up begins on 9/5.
